It's well-known the munchies often strike just when you finally get to sit down in the evening and enjoy a bit of free time. The junk food ads come on TV and before you know it you're reaching for some high calorie low nutritional value snack.
Some knitters, though, have reported an interesting side-effect to their hobby - they are less inclined to snack. They are busy with their hands and don't want to get crumbs and greasy hands all over their handiwork.

As a lot of eating seems to take place simply due to boredom too, so a new pastime is a great way to help with weight loss. These activities don't use many calories, but they'll prevent you eating quite a few.

I really find that it helps me nosh less.
