Great image from the British Heart Foundation which found in a survey of 8-15 year olds that half of children in the UK eat at least a pack of crisps (potato chips for those of you in the US) a day. And almost one in five eat crisps twice a day or more. In a typical 35g bag of crisps there is about two-and-a-half teaspoons of oil. In a larger 50g pack this goes up to three-and-a-half teaspoons.
What's not good for your kids is not good for you either!
Course the crisp manufacturers are up in arms about all the bad publicity and are making a lot of noise about their efforts to improve the type and amount of fat in crisps - but try and keep the image of the girl drinking the cooking oil in mind next time you reach for an unhealthy snack :)
